STACK EFFECT REDUCTION DOOR CONTROL

Product

Product Introduction

A system designed to prevent elevator door malfunctions caused by collision phenomena due to temperature and pressure differences inside and outside the building, improving elevator door closing by controlling the door closing speed through the door inverter program when collision phenomena occur.

* The stack reduction door control can be installed using the control panel-door communication interface and set up and modified by the service personnel using the HHT through the communication interface between the control panel and the door inverter. However, this function cannot be applied if third-party door systems are installed in first-party elevators.

Applies to

Requirements

894ee30055b87.png In case of elevator door malfunctions due to stack effect after elevator installation, the stack effect reduction door control algorithm can be enabled by updating the door inverter program.

Reference

Comparison Before and After Applying Algorithm (1)

Category
New HQ Site of “N” Company
Site Specification
  • B1 to 28th floors
  • Installation ranges from low-speed (WB) to high-speed (SU)
Before Applying Algorithm
Failure Conditions
  • Strong winds in the winter season
  • Lobby entrance open during winter, causing elevator operation to cease

Failure Frequency

(Based on monitoring panel detection)

  • Occurred following a stack effect with an 80% probability
After Applying Algorithm

Failure Frequency

(Based on monitoring panel detection)

  • Reduced the failure rate by 80%

On-site Manager’s Perceived Impact

  • After detecting the stack effect in the monitoring panel, resolving the issue by performing 1-2 door re-opens   (No interruption of elevator operation, normal operation resumed)

Comparison Before and After Applying Algorithm (2)

Category
“K” Apartments in Ilsan
Site Specification
  • B5 to 49th floors
  • Medium to low speed (WB)
Before Applying Algorithm

Failure Conditions
  • Strong winds in the winter season
  • Elevator operation is hindered when the entrance door remains open for an extended period, such as during moving items, etc.

(Manual closure of the entrance door is required as it is not an automatic door)

Failure Frequency (Based on monitoring panel detection)

  • Occurred following a stack effect with an 100% probability

(Excluding entrapment incidents. Stacking was the primary cause of door malfunctions)

After Applying Algorithm

Failure Frequency

(Based on monitoring panel detection)

  • Reduced the failure rate by 90%

On-site Manager’s Perceived Impact

  • While there are noise complaints related to heavy door closure (from basement level 5 to ground level 2) at that location, there have been no incidents of elevator operation stoppage or door malfunction caused by stacking.
